US 101 / De La Cruz / Trimble Interchange Improvements

The US 101/De La Cruz Blvd/Trimble Road Interchange Improvement Project will improve traffic operations for through movements on the local roadway and turning movements to and from the freeway, as well as improve weaving and merging conditions along southbound US 101 between the loop on-ramp, loop off-ramp and the next downstream exit to Route 87. Upgrades will be implemented to better accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians at this critical link across US 101, consistent with current Complete Streets standards. Lastly, the project will replace the existing outdated overcrossing structure without further encroachment into approach and departure glide slope surfaces for the runways at the San Jose Mineta International Airport.
HMH will reconfigure the existing ¾ cloverleaf interchange into a partial cloverleaf and add a grade separated Class I trail under the high-volume southbound ramps. The project includes two protected intersections to connect the Class I facility to existing city streets. The local roadway is identified as a Cross County Bicycle Corridor (CCBC) network in the Countywide Bicycle Plan (May 2018) with a moderate to high priority for implementation. Also identified as an Across Barrier Connection (ABC), De La Cruz Boulevard/Trimble Road is one of a few connections across the US 101 freeway within the North San Jose area.

Golden Oak Park

Golden Oak Park is part of the multi-phase residential Urban Oaks project located in San Jose. The concept for Golden Oak Park overlays ideas found in nature through biomimicry and blends them with inspiration borrowed from the natural California landscape. The theme represents the interconnectedness of the 3 separate realms (Living, Understory and Canopy) while also allowing each realm to be designated spaces that provide multiple active/passive spaces for residents. A central, and reoccurring design form is the hexagon, which represents the structure of the Carbon molecule. Chosen for its importance and inspiring structure, for without Carbon life on earth would not be possible.  The hexagon form and Carbon inspiration can be found throughout the park on several scales and formats. The center of the park features a specimen native Oak tree surrounded by the different micro-climates and environments that trees create as they mature. The active areas of the understory, the whimsical and playful nature within the canopy and the passive and calming serenity found above the canopy.  Through these inspirations the park offers plenty of amenities and features. Some of the amenities include, playgrounds, circuit training stations, TRX and multi trainers for strength training, gathering and dining plazas, corn hole gaming area, a social gathering circle and a large raised open lawn supporting passive or active uses. Brilliant colors and bold organic forms through the use of natural and custom elements tie the park together to celebrate the role carbon plays in making life on earth possible.

Silver at Ohlone

Silver at Ohlone is the first phase of a multi-phase transit residential project that we are proud to be teaming with Republic Urban Properties and Barry Swenson Builders on that is located on the corner of Auzerais Avenue and Sunol Street in San Jose. The 2.2 acre site has 263 residential apartment units and includes multiple high-quality amenities including a pool, a hot tub and spa, lounge seating, BBQ and picnic areas on both the podium and ground level floors, outdoor gaming rooms, and many more amenities. The space is designed to accommodate varying group sizes with a goal to create spaces to give residents options for outdoor activities.

Sunsweet Mixed-Use Apartments in Morgan Hill

Covering 1.63 acres, this mixed-use development project located in Morgan Hill includes 83 residential units and a ground floor retail/commercial space.
The focus of the project was to transform an under-utilized historic site into a thriving mixed-use development attracting new residents to the up-and-coming community of Morgan Hill, implement a design that draws from the historic nature of the site utilizing materials and features reminiscent of the previous Sunsweet fruit packing facility, capitalize on the proximity to the downtown retail area effectively expanding the heart of Morgan Hill, establish the project as an anchor for the pedestrian-friendly Third Street promenade, and create a precedent in design for future development in Morgan Hill.
The HMH services provided include landscape architecture. The Landscape Architecture team was responsible for the 18,000 sq. ft. podium level courtyard with pool, perimeter planting, and finish materials.
